ITINERARY

A route through the memory, the identity and the living history of the Dominican Republic.
It starts in Santo Domingo, with the colonial city alongside the Taíno and Afro-descendant heritage, and then runs south and north.
South: the Engombe ruins, the Boca de Nigua sugar mill — a UNESCO World Heritage site — the Pomier caves with their indigenous rock art, and the Casa de Caoba.
North: Santiago, with its murals and public art, and Puerto Plata, with Victorian architecture and colonial forts.
Along the way: creole cooking workshops, dance classes, agritourism, and conversations with community leaders.
